I saw an image recently that said “Keep the X in X-mas” and laughed a bit at the witty play on “Keep Christ in Christmas“, because I believe that there is so little spirituality or quietude left in the holidays, all replaced with pre-Thanksgiving reminders of the sales, spending, traffic, disappointment, and inequity of the season. These are the things that have replaced what the day is: A religious remembrance of the birth of a pretty nice guy, regardless of if you believe. I kind of wish that it was more like a second Thanksgiving, in which no presents are exchanged and no expectations held other than the same subtle expectations I have for every day of the year: Come together, eat great food, spend time with people you love and care about, and treat each other well.

Crazy, right? To each of you, I hope you get everything you wanted, for myself, Christmas is everyday.
