365 Sketches project introduction [video]

Slides without audio: http://picasaweb.google.com/lemasney/365SketchesTalk

This is a video of my introduction to the 365 Sketches project that I gave at the opening to the show at Princeton Public Library in June of 2010. In a nutshell, this project is one on which I do one daily digital drawing using free software called Inkscape. I believe the video works to explain the processes, people, and issues that were encountered, and I highly recommend giving it a watch. Thanks!

  1. Hi John,

I just saw the video about the 365 sketches project and I really enjoyed it. I am following your developments for quite a while now, and always enjoyed the brief explanations that accompanied the sketches. But it is quite something different to see what images lead to a certain sketch. Looking forward to more inspirations.

    Cheers,
    Syllie

    • Thanks, Syllie! I’ve heard this idea from many of the people who attended the talk, and have loved how the presentation changed the way they saw the project. I really want to spend more time doing exposition in each sketch, but more often than not I’m running to get it done before the day is out. :) It was great to hear from you, and I’m looking forward to the next time.

  2. just discovered your site and finding it really inspiring. I usually do music, but since having a second kid it’s been really hard to find the time. experimenting with inkscape has been a great source of pleasure, and while my stuff is still in the “terrible” stage, I’m loving it. thanks.

    • Thanks for the kind words, rabbitearsmotel! I have 2 kids myself, I know what you mean. I’m sure your work’s not terrible, but I’m glad to hear you’re loving it. I only have a few apps I truly love, and Inkscape’s one of them for sure. :)
