Okay, so sometimes a sketch is just about playing with text as shape. I started typing out the words “something brilliant” in the hopes of coming up with something brilliant, and brilliant or not, this is what I made. Inkscape works with text and shapes in amazing ways, and with some nice fonts and colors, you can make something fun and interesting out of literally nothing but a phrase. Hope you enjoyed it!

I like the color schemes you use in your sketches. Everything always seems to fit together well. I like the color palettes that Inkscape offers, and that has helped me to use better schemes in my doodles, but you go beyond the default color palettes. How do you know which colors to use?
Daniel, I’m going to let you in on a little secret that I tell whenever asked. I choose palettes from Colour Lovers and save the provided thumbnail image of them, then import them into my SVGs and use the eyedropper tool to assign the colors to the various elements in each sketch. It has greatly improved my color in my sketches and allows me to gather great and evocative color schemes. I always “love” the palettes I download on the site, and the list of palettes I “love” is at http://www.colourlovers.com/lover/lemasney Hope this helps!
Well that makes it a lot easier! This opens up a whole new world for me now. Thanks
Glad to hear it! That’s what this is all about, after all.
